WOLE LAGUNJU
EXPO CHICAGO
APRIL 13 - APRIL 16, 2023
We are honored to be participating in this year’s tenth anniversary edition of EXPO CHICAGO, returning to Navy Pier’s Festival Hall April 13–16. We will be presenting a solo exhibition of brilliant new works by Wole Lagunju alongside some stunning historically significant Obe crowns and hunters caps. This new body of works continues Lagunju's meditation on rulership and authority, featuring traditional masks and crowns that, in a new context, challenge historical gender norms and antiquated forms of masculinity.
Amid the global showing of 170 galleries from 36 countries, Montague Contemporary will participate as part of EXPOSURE, a distinct gallery section which features solo and two-artist presentations represented by galleries ten years and younger, curated by Aimé Iglesias Lukin, Director and Chief Curator of Visual Arts at Americas Society in New York.
